The Leonardo Friends Scheme is an umbrella support network that enables local carers’ groups, community organisations and health and social care providers across the Dorset and BCP Council areas to access support and funding through Leonardo Carer Support.

Rather than groups having to apply for separate grants or request funding for individual expenses, the Leonardo Friends Scheme provides a simpler way for partners to access agreed support through their partnership with Leonardo Carer Support.

The scheme has been developed to help local organisations and groups provide activities, services and opportunities that meet the needs and interests of the unpaid carers they support.

Support through the Leonardo Friends Scheme can include:

1. Refreshments for group sessions and activities
2. Community activities and events
3. Training and development opportunities
4. Advertising and promotion
5. Additional support for groups and organisations
6. Other agreed costs that help groups provide meaningful support to carers

By working together through the Leonardo Friends Scheme, we can strengthen existing support networks, reduce barriers to accessing funding and provide greater opportunities for unpaid carers across Dorset and the BCP Council areas.
